Dr Pepper wanted an exciting way to promote their new flavor, Strawberries & Cream. Our team knew all the Dr Pepper-heads would be lining out the door to try the new soda, so they asked "What other fanbase has the same energy that Dr Pepper lovers do?" Sneakerheads. Sneakerheads live and breathe for the latest shoe-drops, lining up outside stores and constantly searching for their next pair. We recognized an opportunity to merge the worlds of soda and sneakers in a truly unique way through an Official Flavor Drop of Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream.

The idea was to mimick a shoe-drop that you would see from a Nike or New Balance, and fill the box with Dr Pepper's new soda and other hypebeast swag. The box would then be mailed to streetwear influencers and shared via social media using the hashtags #Strawberries&Cream and #OfficialFlavorDrop.

i. designing the box

The design of the box went through many iterations, but we landed on this simple black box that playfully nodded to Nike's Off-White line. We wanted it to feel like an actual shoebox, so we brought in elements you would see in real life. The simplified "Dr Pepper" logo, sticker applications, and overall gritty texture bring the streetwear style to life and draw attention to the box despite it's straightforward design and color palette. However, once you open the box, you are met with an explosion of pink and burgundy and, of course, samples of the new Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream. 

THE DRIP

ii. designing the swag

The merch that was included inside the box was all inspired by popular streetwear accessories. We had a lot fun deciding what should go in the box and how we would tie each piece back to Dr Pepper. The result ended in branded shoe laces, a sock-koozie, sneaker/can tags, and even more Dr Pepper drip.
